In the spirit of community, collaboration and information sharing, EdTech: Focus on K–12 has rounded up 50 ed-tech blogs that we deem must-reads for the K–12 community. We launched our first Must-Read IT list last year to great response so we hope that you all enjoy this year's batch of blogs as well. These blogs are a mix of voices and include blogs authored by teachers, administrators and technology vendors.

A recent article at facultyfocus.com gives some interesting insight into the learning preferences of Millennials, the generation born between 1981 and 1999 (approximately). Known by an assortment of other labels, like Digital Natives, Generation Y, and Generation Next, these are the current crop of 7th graders through college students, and they prefer a different sort of approach from their parents’ generation when it comes to education. This study by Dr. Christy Price identifies the 5 R’s in a Millennial’s ideal learning environment. A free, two-semester MOOC for anyone interested in learning programming, geared specifically toward high school Advanced Placement students who are serious about taking the AP Computer Science A Exam in Spring 2014. A complete curriculum, syllabus and all course materials developed and taught by a master high school teacher will be free and available for the 2013–2014 school year. Blended Schools Network MOOC - Blended Schools is a non-profit network of schools that have produced hundreds of online interactive lessons and full courses, and thousands of videos which are accessible for free from their BSNcloud and BSNtube repositories. Millennials have no memory of a world without the World Wide Web, cell phones, or personal computers. They are an Internet-surfing, iPoding, texting, Googling, Facebooking, and IMing generation. They have come of age during a time of dramatic technological changes in our society. Just consider the fact that the cell phone has become the fastest-adopted invention in the history of humankind. For many of them, texting and instant messaging have become the chosen methods of communication. They are our students and we need to explore ways of adapting the college classroom to reach them and teach them more effectively. As a parent, the generational divide was brought home when my son (born 1991) was reading a book in the 7th grade and came upon a word he had never seen before.
