Entry to most of our courses is assessed on the basis of your academic results. For Year 12 students this will be your Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) or equivalent. For non-year 12 students, this might be your ATAR or equivalent, tertiary or TAFE study or (for mature aged entry) a foundation course. Getting the 'right' ATAR is not the only way you can be accepted to study here – we offer other pathways as well. If you completed high school before 2009, or studied elsewhere in Australia or in New Zealand, your rank may have a different name.

To be considered for the Study Abroad or Student Exchange Programs you need to: have completed at least one year of study towards a degree at a recognised institution in your home country and are continuing towards the degree at your home institution;have achieved a cumulative grade (over all results in your degree) of either 'Credit' or 'Good' average, or a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale, or an average grade of 'C' or better on the European ECTS grading scale (or equivalent);have a letter of nomination from their home institution if you are applying for Student Exchange.

In addition, students who wish to access postgraduate coursework or research must have completed the equivalent of an Australian Bachelor degree and submit substantiating evidence (testamur). Deposit fee In order to secure your place at the University of Sydney you need to pay a deposit fee, which consists of one semester's fees plus compulsory subscriptions such as the Student Services and Amenities fee.

Grading

When it comes to the acquisition of knowledge, the honing of the body, and the attainment of military proficiency, we take our jobs very seriously. And we expect the same from our cadets. Most courses at the Academy are graded on a grade point scale, with an “A” worth four grade points per semester hour and an “F” worth zero. You’ll receive a pass/fail grade in several courses, particularly military training and airmanship. You should expect to spend 100 minutes in outside preparation for each 50-minute class period. Semester Schedule The fall and spring semesters contain approximately 17 weeks of instruction (40 lessons), extending from early August to the week before Christmas and the first week in January through mid-May.
