MITEI@5 MIT's energy initiative reaches a milestone. Energy for the Future Since the creation of the MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI) five years ago, the world’s energy landscape has changed. Trickle Down Effect Ruben Juanes’ work has profound implications for carbon sequestration, which can help prevent global warming. Going With the Flow Michael Triantafyllou says that as oil and gas companies operate in deep waters, under-water robots are essential to the world’s energy supply.

Rock on a larger scale also has naturally occurring joints or fractures whose propagation can lead to failure of a rock mass. So fracture propagation in rock masses is a critical problem that can impact many natural features and engineering applications: rock slopes, tunneling, loading of rock mass with large structures, and others. But the mechanisms of rock fracture propagation are not fully understood.

New York City Transit Scenes: Past and Present
The following exhibit is a photographic and historical tour of New York's first subway line, the IRT. The photographs are from two sources -- the New York Transit Museum Archives , and photographs I have taken on various Transit Museum sponsored tours. This project is sponsored by MIT Admissions , and is intended to be a go-to guide edited by current students for the benefit of prefrosh and any individuals interested in learning more about MIT undergraduate life. Sample pages: McCormick Hall | Baker House | Biology | Men's Basketball | Alpha Chi Omega The best way to envision this site is to see it as the HTGAMIT (How to Get Around MIT) Guide, Housing Guide, the ASA First Year Mailing, and the Greek Griller guide all rolled into one.
