According to the firm’s recent Asia Pacific Semiannual IT Services Tracker, a robust growth of 13.4 per cent year-on-year is expected, after a good performance in 2010 of 18 per cent. “We are seeing new rounds of investment from global ICT players to build and expand their datacenters in the region. In addition to cloud services provisioning, the demand for business continuity and disaster recovery services, particularly after Japan's recent earthquakes, has boosted hosting services in offshore locations as well,” said Natalie Wan, senior research manager of IDC’s Asia/Pacific Services Research Group.

Singapore, March 16, 2011 - The Asia Pacific continued to be a high-growth region for the contact center industry even during the global economic slowdown. As the effects of the slowdown started receding in 2010, spending on customer service resumed among enterprises. From a solutions perspective, call center operators have started to explore integrated suites of quality monitoring, workforce management and analytics.

Seventy-five percent of Asia Pacific organisations experienced cyber-attacks in the past 12 months, costing enterprise businesses an average of US$763,000 per year. 33 percent of Singapore enterprises rated the attacks somewhat or highly effective, according to the recent Symantec 2010 State of Enterprise Security Survey. Now Symantec Hosted Services has conducted a further survey to determine what companies in Singapore are doing about the threat. The findings indicate that the level of trust in Security as a Service – what is coming to be known as cloud security – as a potential solution to the relentless spam and malware onslaught is at an all-time high.

The research was carried out by the market research firm Harris Interactive which conducted interviews with 104 IT Managers and IT decision makers in Singapore in 2010. By setting up an impressive data center facility, Singapore will serve to attract world-class media and Internet companies who can host their content and services with ease. The IT Service Management Forum (itSMF) Asia Survey 2008, conducted from end August to early October, found that about 62 percent of organisations indicated that their respective ITSM implementation exceeded or met expectations. Over 150 respondents from seven Asian economies -- Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand -- took part in the online survey, the first of such a scope for the itSMF. Only five percent said their ITSM efforts did not meet expectations, while around a third of the respondents (32.6 percent) indicated that it was too early to gauge the level of satisfaction.

According to the survey, IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) v2 is the most commonly adopted framework in the region, followed by ISO/IEC 20000, ITIL v3.
