(Lemi Ponifasio) Following his production of Carl Orff’s Prometheus at the Ruhrtriennale 2012, this year Samoan performance artist and chorographer Lemi Ponifasio will be showing a new work created jointly with MAU Company. Lemi Ponifasio : présentation. Personal Life: Sala Lemi Ponifasio (born in Lano, Samoa) is an internationally recognised Samoan Choreographer and Director, and is the founder of MAU – New Zealand’s most prolific international contemporary dance and theatre company.
He has taken a three-month artist residency at the National University of Samoa (NUS) from August to October 2013. Ponifasio is one of 10 children and a former student of Chanel College. He came to New Zealand at the age of 15. La compagnie MAU.
