A slip stitch is used when you do not want the stitching to appear visible on the finished project. 7. A chain stitch is a decorative stitch used to easily embroider designs onto your projects. 8. A running stitch is a kind of straight stitch that can be made by putting the needle through many folds of fabric instead of one stitch at a time. 9. A backstitch is a strong repetitive stitch that will keep two pieces of fabric together. 10. For beginners, threading the needle can often be the hardest part of sewing.
