Glitter DIY Pumps My sister Gabriella had a dance this past weekend. She wanted teal accents with her black dress. We were brainstorming ideas and decided to do a fun glittery sole on her pumps to match her date.
I am in love with color oxfords, and painting on a bright sole is the perfect way to reinvent a pair of shoes already in your closet. Supplies: Masking tape, Silver spray paint, blue acrylic paint, paint brush, oxfords Tape around the area that you want silver.
Ok first things first. I saw this idea on Sydney's blog ( The Rabbit-Hearted Girl ). The moment I saw it I knew I had to give it a try since every time I go in a store I touch the shiny glittery shoes and have to remind myself that I don't have a legitimate reason to buy them. However, DIYing them with a pair of shoes I was about to send to Goodwill... definitely legitimate!
A few weeks ago, after what seemed like a never-ending decor battle with my console table design layout {I know, so dramatic}, I decided that the wall above it, which is part of it, needed something that was pretty enough to draw attention but not so much as to distract the eye. It seemed like every mirror or work of art I hung or placed there became the focal point of the room, creating too much fuss, and it just wasn't working for me. It was then that I decided I needed something similar in color to the wall rather than contrasting it... and then as if from the heavens above, it finally hit me. A Juju hat was the obvious answer.
Mirrored Wedges I came up with this idea when I finished my Disco Bra.. I had more than half of the mirrors I pulled off a discoball left and thought 'why not make some matching shoes to go with the bra' ((To wear to the Lady Gaga concert :D )) The project costed me no more than 3 euros, since I already had the mirrors and the shoes. I only needed to buy me some extra nailglue. (I think other glues can also work, but I just like to use nailglue cause it simply works on everything - it's kind of a superglue - and it's cheap!)
Our love of Minnatonka moccasins and obsession with Balenciaga ‘s Fall 2010 shoes made this DIY we created for Foam Magazine a no brainer. With just a tube of Tulip Soft Fabric Paint , a pair of paintbrushes (one thin and one thick) and a pair of suede moccasins, you’ll be ready to make your own color block shoes. ( Tulip Soft Fabric Paint is best paint to use, as it is highly opaque, flexible once it dries and great for suede.) To paint the tops of the moccasins, the fringe will have to be tucked under. Simply untie the bow, pull the suede strings out of all the holes (note how it is assembled), and fold the flap under. (Click images to enlarge)
Do you remember the last time you Sharpie-d or embellished a pair of sneakers? For us, it had been far too long so when we saw Miu Miu ‘s latest glittery sneakers for fall, we were anxious to bling out our own pair using a pair of classic Vans as our canvas. But honestly, what fun is it unless you can DIY a pair too? Leave a comment and we’ll select a reader, at random, to choose their own pair of DIYable Vans .
I started off assembly with the 2 front pieces of the right foot. Each of the sections I laid out as interfacing, cotton, cotton. Then hemmed the top and the bottom on the wrong side, then flipped it making it cotton, interfacing, cotton. Next I sewed these two pieces together, cut notches in the seam allowance at the ankle to allow the seam to curve and pressed the seams open. You now will have a finished front piece. Now that I have pieces 1 and 2 assembled, I attached piece 3 (the outer faux closure piece) Repeating the same steps of hemming the top and bottom first I then flipped it and sewed it to the outer front piece.
1. Wrap the end of the 1/2"-wide strapping over the top 1/2"-wide strap you made in the previous step. (Allow about 3/8" overlap.) Spread glue on the 3/8" overlap, and secure with a binder clip. (You want the strap you made to be able to move freely.)
