Usually, we admire that the artists can create characters vividly, while this time, we will introduce a different artist who turns living, breathing people into characters in oil painting. That is Alexa Meade. Alexa Meade is a 23-year-old artist based in Washington, DC area. She spent four summers interning on Capitol Hill and in 2008 was a press staffer on the Obama Campaign. She graduated in 2009 from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY with a bachelor’s degree in political science.

She never attended art school nor has she ever taken advanced painting courses. She applies acrylic paint to the surfaces of people, objects, and walls in a broad brushstroke that mimics the appearance of brushwork in a painting in a technique that she innovated. Mindfuck Movies. Forgotten Legends In the Land Of The Hyper Surreal: Our Q&A With Alex McLeod. Alex McLeod is a Canadian 3D artist who uses digital tools to create hyper surreal landscapes, which will have an air of uncanny familiarity to anyone who’s ever virtually set foot inside a video game. Shiny digital surfaces coat the bulbous, soft geometry of a Super Mario World background, and castles lie barricaded on top of their foam kingdoms.

These fantastical landscapes are tweaked into life using the modern animators artillery of Cinema 4D, Photoshop, and AfterEffects. But these busy virtual worlds, populated by crystal mountains and chromatic bubble-clouds, also retain a high-gloss kitsch, the same kind that coats the pop art of Takashi Murakami or Jeff Koons, giving them a glistening psychedelia. Beginning this coming Saturday 26th May and running to 23rd June 2012 the Galerie Trois Points in Montreal, Quebec will host a solo show by McLeod called Légendes oubliées.

Follow @Scene360: Like Father, Like Son. Photos by Travis Cuykendall Now I know what you're thinking: With a title like that, what we've got here is a pair of cars owned by father and son. That's where you'd be wrong though. What we have here is John Zuberek's 1966 250S Benz and his E30 M3. So why "Like Father, Like Son? " Well, let's just say the apple doesn't fall from the tree.

We all become automotive enthusiasts in our own way. Sometimes it is entirely self-cultivated, sometimes we only have our friends to thank. I'll start with the Benz. John spent two years searching for the right Benz. His father sold the car when is family made the move up to Seattle. But this story would be substantially less exciting if there weren't two halves to be told. John's M3 is a simple car. Similarly, his Benz doesn't stray far from the norm. He yanked the engine, had the carbs rebuilt, replaced the transmission, and wrenched it all back together.

John's cars are a fantastic pair for any fan of German steel to envy. 10 Junkyard Cars Restored into Luxury Classics. 10 Junkyard Cars Restored into Luxury Classics The cars of yesteryear have a different DNA than the vehicles produced today. Bryan Lewis Saunders is an artist from Washington D.C., not just any artist though.

Saunders prefers to take a more unconventional approach to his artwork. Arguably his most interesting project, entitled DRUGS is described as follows: Below, you can view a collection of portraits Saunders drew while under the influence of various substances ranging from cocaine, to marijuana, to DMT. Each portrait is an astonishing look into the mind of someone tweaked out on drugs, something that your eyes will surely appreciate.
