Page 19. We get a lot of emails asking how to use brushes correctly so I hope this helps you out a little! A brow brush is designed to be stiff and angled for a reason. And we use the slanted edge to shade and the tip of the edge to outline. Put those components together and a brow brush is quite frankly a thing of perfection! Here’s how to use it properly: READ MORE… Last week we explored four different ways to wear Spring’s biggest Cobalt blue trend. This method has been around for centuries!

A nod to the Uptown Girl, this look is very put together and polished. Photo/post/graphic design: Kristin Ess One of my all time favorite hairstyles for a wedding or for red carpet is the most super simple chic chignon (say that 3 times fast!). In this tutorial we show future brides and bridesmaids alike how to keep their hair out of the way while maintaining a timeless, classic look for any event. This is one of those updos that really allows you to focus on the dress, accessories and overall beauty instead of being a major focal point.

Let’s get started! Start with all of your hair in a ponytail. A fuller bun + a tighter bun can both look great for different reasons. If you’re looking for accessories similar the one in the top image for your wedding, here are a few of my current favorites: And you can always use fresh flowers, silk flowers or an embellished appliqué from the fabric store. June 4th, 2011By: Heather A few days ago I posted a picture of myself on twitter with a new hairstyle I saw on Pintrest. I’d made it my mission to figure out to to do it. I was pretty proud of myself when I succeeded.

It’s beautiful and a great summer style that gets your hair off your face. I call it the “loom braid” because a) I have no idea if it actually has a name, and b) it reminded me of playing with a toy loom I had when I was a kid. If you can’t see the video above, click here. Last month I did a makeover story with Kelsie and had many requests for a maiden braid tutorial. Yesterday she came in and we photographed these simple step by steps. Kelsie has extremely long and thick hair, but anyone with shoulder length or longer can do these braids (see my photo below for an example).

Steps 1-2: Braid two strands on each side of a center part. Steps 3-5: Wrap braids around the crown of your head and pin in place with one pin each. Step 6: Arrange braids so that they cover the front of your head like a headband. Pin into place more securely until you feel comfortable. Steps 7-8: Pull the rest of the hair into a ponytail and pin it into a cute messy bun.

Step 9: Add final pins and spray. The Perfect Mermaid Curls. Although “perfect” is a relative term, this method for curling hair is pretty much perfect by my standards, mostly because it isn’t fussy. While I’m a sucker for both ringlets and Californian waves, I like my own curls somewhere in between: relaxed but bouncy. Mermaid-like. Supplies: 1″ curling iron, brush, and hair sprayTime: 45 minutes (for thick hair) All of the magic happens with Revlon’s “Helen of Troy” ceramic 1″ curling iron. For those who have long, thick hair like me, you might find that larger curling barrels produce the most pathetic excuse for “waves” that fall out within the hour, regardless of the amount of hair spray. I’ve found that the 1″ barrel creates tight waves that look good for at least 5-6 hours (though they do relax over time). Although I’m sure any iron will do, I love Revlon’s ceramic one – it keeps your hair soft, and it heats up in 30 seconds!

For hairspray, I’m a fan of Tigi’s Hard Head, which has a strong hold without the severe crunchiness. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
