And then they tasted extra delicious after I spent two hours cleaning out the contents of our bar (take that as you will), after he spent three hours organizing the pantry (that was weird) and after we both needed to severely eat our emotions immediately post-Boardwalk Empire finale. WHAT was that. ??????? Why??? Then I tried to dunk a cookie in milk and failed. I need cookie dunking lessons, a redo on season 2 (thanks HBO), and a salad.

Twix Cheesecakes. Cinnamon Pull Apart Bread. By: Deanna Linder In Plato’s book, The Symposium, the Greek playwright, Aristophanes describes the reason why humans say they found their other half when falling in love. He gives a speech about primates who had double bodies, with faces that turned away from one another. To make a long story short, Zeus, punished these primates by splitting them in half, separating the two bodies.

According to Aristophanes, ever since then, people are in search of their other half. Culinary-speaking, there seems to be a similar phenomenon; ingredients, coming from different sources, which seem to innately go together. Cinnamon and sugar is one these pairings. One morning I arrive to Danya’s studio and her Google reader is open onto one of our favorite blogs, Joy the Baker. Being the more American of the two (Danya was born in the US), this was definitely my type of recipe. Being more a cook than a baker, when I try out baking recipes I like to stick to what’s written for the first try. For the dough: Slutty Brownies. Now I don’t want to over sell this, so I’m going to be conservative and simply say, that these are… The Best Brownies In The WORLD.

I know, big statement. They’re called Slutty Brownies because they’re oh so easy, and more than a little bit filthy. Bake for 30mins. Death By Oreo Cupcakes. They are probably the best Oreo cakes I have ever tried. A lot of cake's that I have experimented with before are like a vanilla cake with bits of Oreo in them, which didn't really give them enough Oreo flavor. But these were a lot better. I used a dark chocolate fudge cake mix instead of just a regular chocolate cake mix, which went really well with the cookies and gave the cakes just a little more flavor. So, in this recipe there is Oreo's in the cake, in the frosting, and at the bottom is a Oreo surprise. That's right, you put a whole Oreo at the bottom of the cake. The cookie stays firm, which makes it a little interesting to eat against the soft cake, but it actually gave a really yummy crunch.
