Play Yes and No Chairs - ESL for KIDS. You can play Yes and No Chairs with your students to teach and revise material while making it possible for your students to have loads of fun.
Play Yes and No Chairs The awesome thing about this classroom activity is that the only thing you need to have your students play it is some flashcards and two chairs. The game can be used to revise vocabulary, grammar and everyday language. What’s more, Yes and No Chairs stimulates your pupils, makes them really focused and engaged as there’s a competitive edge to it as well. Divide your students into two groups, ask the groups to form two lines in front of the board. What’s important is that there should be as much distance between the first students in each line and the board as possible. Put two chairs by the board let your students know that one chair is a ‘yes’ chair and that the other is a ‘no’ chair. Divide the class into two teams (they can choose a team name?). Take two chairs and turn them round so that anyone sitting in them will have their backs to the board. One person from each team comes up and sits in the chair. The teacher writes a word on the board and the other members of the team try to explain the word, without actually saying the target word. The first person (sitting in the chairs) to say the correct word wins one point for their team.
Rules: People sitting in the chairs may not look at the board. Obviously, these rules can be relaxed for lower levels.
