1 Using Linked In for SEO | Top SEO blog. Image via Wikipedia For the next month or so there will be a segment on this blog called “SEO Tips of the Day”, I will try to post these every day or every other day. Each tip will be short and sweet and will give practical SEO advice. If you would like me to add something to this segment please leave a comment and let me know. SEO Tip of the Day #1: Linked In is the leading social network for professionals and is the place to go if you are looking to network with others in your field or if you are looking for a new job (since there are many recruiters on Linked In). Another useful aspect of Linked In is Linked In groups. If you wish to join the network of the authors of this blog you can, follow Moshe Zchut on Linked In ; or follow Eugene Aronsky on Linked In.

2 Using Facebook for SEO | Top SEO blog. 3 Value of Internal Linking | Top SEO blog. Image via Wikipedia I would like to welcome you to my third SEO tip of the day; here I will discuss the use of internal linking. Having a good internal linking structure is an extremely valuable aspect of SEO, and if you have not done so yet, I advise you to examine the internal linking structure of your site. Internal linking is the way that all of the pages of your site link to each other and the way that new pages that you create link to existing pages and get links from existing pages in order to give these new pages some link juice. Internal linking is valuable both from the user perspective (users must be able to easily navigate to all of the pages of your site) as well as for search engines (in order for Google to fully crawl your site it must be able to find each page, adding links within your site will help accomplish this). 7 Benefits of Blogging for SEO | Top SEO blog.

6 Using Google Local | Top SEO blog. I would like to welcome you to my sixth SEO tip of the day; here I will discuss the value of using Google local. Google local has become one of the leading methods (replacing the Yellow Pages) by which most of us obtain local information such as phone numbers of restaurants in our area… It is therefore crucial for everyone who has a website targeted at a local audience to have a listing on Google local (as well as Yahoo local, Bing local…) There are a few major benefits when it comes to using Google local, the first of these is that it is free, the second advantage being that it is really easy to set up. When it comes to optimizing your Google local listing there are a few important things, the first is to choose the right category for your listing, choosing the right category will get you more targeted results and thus higher quality traffic.

9 Promote your Blog with Blog Engage | Top SEO blog. I would like to welcome you to my ninth SEO tip of the day; here I will discuss the use of Blog Engage to promote your blog. There are currently many social bookmarking sites, blog directories and blogger communities out there; each of these has their pros and cons… One of my personal favorite social bookmarking sites/blogger communities is Blog Engage. Blog Engage is a social bookmarking community which allows you to submit your favorite (most recent) blog post, and have other members vote on whether they like the post; you are also able to vote on other posts and comment on posts as well. I realize that this sounds like any other social bookmarking site and in many ways it is, but the useful thing about Blog Engage is that it is a very young website (although it is growing rapidly) and most of the votes are genuine.

Additionally, Blog Engage provides backlinks to each blog that you post on the site and these links are given value by Google. 8 Blog Optimization | Top SEO blog. Image via Wikipedia I would like to welcome you to my eighth SEO tip of the day; here I will discuss the importance of optimizing your blog. Blogging is a fantastic tool which can help to greatly improve your sites’ SEO and with which you can get your site to rank for many more keywords, but as with everything else in life proper optimization of your blog can increase the benefits of blogging. When optimizing a blog there are a few things that you should look at, the first of these is the title of your blog, your blogs’ title should describe the main purpose of your blog (what will you be blogging about), it should also be something that people might Google and if possible be catchy, for example, a good blog title for a kids blog might be “Kids Birthday Parties NJ”.

4 Benefits of an HTML Header | Top SEO blog. 5 Using Local SEO for On Page Optimization | Top SEO blog. Image via Wikipedia I would like to welcome you to my fifth SEO tip of the day; here I will discuss the value of on page optimization for local SEO. .Local SEO consists primarily of positioning a website so that it targets a local market. Given that most websites today are local (specific to a town or region, ex: doctor’s office in Short Hills NJ, or Home remodeling Phoenix) and local traffic is often more valuable it is important for website owners to understand the basics of local SEO.

The basics of local SEO consist of targeting the right keywords that will appeal to your local market and that will get traffic to your website (one of the downsides of using local keywords is that traffic to your website may be very low, since few searches may be done locally for what you are selling, but if you use the right keywords you can be certain that the traffic that does come to your website will be very interested in your service or product). 10 Promote your Blog with Blog Catalog | Top SEO blog.

11 Title Optimization | Top SEO blog. 12 Fresh Content | Top SEO blog. I would like to welcome you to my twelfth SEO tip of the day; here I will discuss the importance of having fresh content. “Fresh content” means content that is both “fresh” in the sense of new, as well as “fresh” in the sense of interesting’ having fresh content is very important in order to have success with SEO. Google crawls (visits) sites often and it is helpful for you to add new content so that when your site is crawled there is new content to discover. Fresh content is especially important when looking at a blog, blogs are a dynamic platform and as such should be updated often; to have a truly successful blog I recommend that you write about 10-15 new posts per month and space them out to run 1 post every few days, if you can write more that is good, and the more you write the more often your blog will get crawled/the better your blog will rank in search results.

13 Using Twitter for SEO | Top SEO blog. 14 Blog Directories | Top SEO blog. Image via Wikipedia I would like to welcome you to my fourteenth SEO tip of the day; here I will discuss the benefits of using blog directories to promote your blog. There are a ton of blog directories on the web and these can be an excellent way to promote your new blog (blog directories are sites that list blogs in categories; to be included you usually must submit your blog manually and wait for it to get approved by the directory administrators).

Most of the directories around are free, (the only cost being the time that it takes to submit your site to each directory) and will provide you links going back to your blog, a few will even allow you to post your RSS feed and syndicate each new post. Some of the directories do require you to provide a reciprocal link, the backlink that you will get from such directories is not as valuable b/c Google now frowns on two way link trading. If you have any thoughts on using directories you are welcome to post your comment here. 15 Using Web 2.0 to Promote a Website | Top SEO blog. 20 What is White Hat SEO | Top SEO blog. I would like to welcome you to my twentieth SEO tip of the day; here I will discuss the meaning of “White Hat” SEO.

SEO is a very young industry and search engines are still developing, as search algorithms become more standardized and complex SEO techniques change to adapt to changing rules set forth by Google. White Hat SEO techniques that are seen as legal by Google and are not in violation of the rules; Black Hat SEO techniques are SEO tricks that have been deemed illegal by Google and the use of which will get your site penalized and perhaps even banned from Google. Another useful White Hat SEO strategy is blog optimization, if you have a question about this or anything else related to SEO please leave your comments here and someone will respond shortly. 16 Time and SEO | Top SEO blog. I would like to welcome you to my sixteenth SEO tip of the day; here I will discuss the importance of Time for SEO. Time There are many things that are within your control that you can do to improve your SEO and increase your rankings, but one of the most important factors is one that you cannot control, this is Time.

Google takes time to add new websites to their search, and they can take up to 6 months to a year to assign you your initial Page Rank. Additionally Google and other search engines tend to give more weight to sites that have been around longer and tend to rank these higher for competitive search terms. Although there is no way to make your site appear older to Google than it really is (other than purchasing an existing site and re-branding it as your own, which is very costly) there are a few things that you can do to lower the odds.

18 Blogging to Improve SEO | Top SEO blog. I would like to welcome you to my eighteenth SEO tip of the day; here I will discuss the importance of blogging to improve your SEO. I know that I’ve already talked about this in an earlier tip, but I am very passionate about blogging for SEO and for this of you who may not have read my earlier tip I wanted to repeat myself. Blogging is in all likelihood the most worthwhile and cost effective thing that you can do in order to improve your SEO. Although they were not started with this intention today blogs have become the leading way that businesses can communicate with their customers/clients. 17 Using Squidoo for SEO | Top SEO blog. 19 Value of Backlinks | Top SEO blog.

Image via Wikipedia I would like to welcome you to my nineteenth SEO tip of the day; here I will discuss the importance of backlinks to improve your SEO. Backlinks are a vital component of SEO b/c the number of backlinks and the quality of these backlinks is still the primary method through which Google and other search engines determine how a site will rank for a certain keyword. The value of backlinks has ebbed as search engines have refined their search algorithms (search engines today consider many factors not just backlinks) but backlinks are still the dominant way that keyword rankings are determined. Trading links is one of the primary methods through which you can get backlinks – this is when you make an arrangement with another site that you will link to them if they will link to you.
