At South By South West I went to a talk by Daniel Lorenzetti on Transmedia storytelling, it was really interesting. For those of you, who like me have no idea what I am talking about… Wikipedia’s definition is “Transmedia storytelling is a technique of telling stories across multiple platforms and formats“. Basically it is all about telling a story across different mediums, rather than just doing the same thing everywhere (eg write a blog, post it on Facebook and Twitter and that’s it).
A great example is the True Blood TV show, True Blood. New True Blood Promo Pits Eric and Bill Against The Coven. Is your True Blood pumping for season four? HBO knows how much waiting sucks, so in order to help quell your bloodlust they've served up the fourth teaser, this time featuring Stephen Moyer's Bill Compton and Alexander Skarsgard's Eric Northman.
The teaser opens much as the previous, with words jumping from page to screen, this time Bill and Eric (apparently before his witchy memory-wipe) discussing the danger inherent in the mysterious "coven" moving into town.
