Allrighty, for those of you who like to play with string, what follows are the instructions for working double stranded crochet. I use this technique to create my knotwork and tessellation blankets. Heck it can be used to crochet just about anything that requires 2 colors and you don't feel like using fillet crochet. The pattern I am using is actually a cross stitch piece from plate 49 #344 of the Dover Needlework Series - Celtic Charted Designs Two double crochet stitches together equal one block on the charted design and adequately prevent distortion of the design. The yarn is Teal Blue homespun wool from Inis Mor in the Aaran Islands and Chestnut Brown medium weight Merino.

As seen in the picture, the handle has a small metal loop pin in it. Start with a run of CS long enough to anchor the first row. Stitch 1 Repeat till stitch is finished. All three are made with leather, one with wood beads, one with green stones, one with pink stones. The only thing I bought was the leather. You can find it in the jewelry, bead section of Wal-Mart or Michaels about $3.00. I recycled a white wood bead necklace for this one.

And a green stone necklace for this one. You just take a piece of leather and string beads to both ends. Then, fold it in half and wrap it around your neck, put the beads through the loop. Easy!! First of all, I fold diagonal and also the other diagonal, and the horizontal and vertical. Open it back up, and fold all four corners into the middle. We are now going to fold the edges into the middle. Turn it ninety degrees, and repeat the edges into the middle. We can assemble the box by collapsing it along this line here and here, so more here, and here. And then you just push this fold down, and keep pushing it down until it goes into the box.

So, we're literally just pushing in on those two diagonals. So just pinch that there, pinch all four corners. That was how to make a paper box. . How To Hand Applique - Part One.
