Vienna to Budapest Train : All You Need to Know - Big World Small Pockets. 2 of Europe’s great capitals, Vienna in Austria and Budapest in Hungary are must-see destinations when you’re travelling in this part of world. Which is easy to do, because these 2 wonderful cities are actually situated incredibly close together, meaning it’s easy to visit both in a single trip. Under 220km apart by train, in little under 3 hours you can hop from classical Central Europe to exciting Eastern Europe and gain a completely different perspective on this region’s geography and culture. And the best way to make this journey, in my opinion, has to be by rail.
