Whoa. What did I just read? I think most of you know of Freakonomics, but in case you don't, it started as a book in 2005, by economist Steven Levitt and journalist Stephen Dubner.les connecteurs

With the growing use of gadgets in place of an old fashioned pen and paper pair, the art of doodling might fade away. Don’t let doodling die! Getting on that Instagram thing, @rtrogrd. There is always one person you love who becomes that definition. It usually happens retrospectively, but it happens eventually. This is the person who unknowingly sets the template for what you will always love about other people, even if some of these lovable qualities are self-destructive and unreasonable. The person who derfines your understanding of love is not inherently different than anyone else; they’re often just the person you happen to meet the first time you really, really, really want to love someone. When you are high.. | My[confined]Space

“Springtime in New York / when demolishing a building brings the smell of 1890 to the breeze.” —Jonathan Richman, Springtime in New York I recently finished up some press invitations for a Brooklyn Philharmonic concert. They incorporate the borough’s handsomest of street-features: the brownstone row house, as well as historical maps, typography, and a fake-newspaper-as-a-concert-program.The idea that there is a staircase of gold and marble, which leads to knowledge is seductive, but seems to me that the idea of something needing to get broken before we can learn anything is a more true idea. It is my experience, maybe you can escape it, but I doubt it. Unless the heart breaks, we will never know anything about love. As long as our objective universe doesn’t collapse, we’ll never know anything about the world.
