Between services like Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, Google Docs and Flickr, you likely have indispensable information locked away on servers you don’t control, governed by Terms of Service you’ve probably never read -- and that the service providers can alter at any time. Trusting any online service provider -- no matter how reputable -- is putting all your data eggs in one basket. Your online data is just as important as the data on your personal computer or local servers. Both should be backed up; not just to guard against data loss, but to put you in control of the vital information that resides on systems you don’t own.

Firefox: Facebook is great for sharing photos, but it's a bit of a hassle to download them in batches. FacePAD is a small Firefox extension that makes grabbing whole albums from Facebook a breeze.
