Knobs after: DIY: Tree Pedestal Cake stand | DIY Wedding Blog. I’ve realized after blogging for a little over a year how much sucker I am for anything rustic.

Yes, the theme has been used a lot recently in weddings, but I still love it and I don’t think anything says more “woodland rustic chic” than a cakstand made out of real wood. Are you throwing an indoor wedding and having diffuculty bringing the outdoors in? How about surprising guests with 4- 5 log stands on a dessert table with mini cakes and pies on top and flowers scattered everywhere? Laurie, thank you again for such a lovely project! What I'm going to share with you today isn't a new and exciting idea. We've seen them blogged about on a number of blogs. How to organize your jewelry. But I decided I wanted to share my jewelry-organization-journey with you! Sherry over at Young House Love wrote about her ceramic egg crate that she uses to organize her stuff in her wardrobe.

And of course, we can all drool over having a huge closet with the shelves and cabinets and even something like this great jewelry drawer. I would love to get some built-in organization in my closet, but honestly, my closet situation is the last thing on my house to-do list. However, here is my real problem. And here is where it ends up Not good right? I decided to use one of the little cork boards as the frame and to use a $1.99 shelf I snagged from the thrift store. This could work! Using a utility knife, I cut the back of the cork board out. I started to try to remove the cork board and as you can see, it completely fell apart. Perfect! Cupboard Painted With Old Fashioned Milk Paint. I found this cute little cupboard at the Salvation Army last week. As you can see, it was in sad shape. The first thing I did before I even brought it into the house was to have my husband remove the old backing. It was actually warm enough that day that I was able to give it a good sanding, too, before we brought it in. After Christmas I convinced my husband to take me to Lee Valley , where I picked up some Old Fashioned Milk Paint, and I had been wanting to find a piece to try it out on. Using Snow White and Slate, this is what the cabinet looked like after two coats: I gave it a good sanding... And here it is all distressed and waxed up. Overall, I really liked using this paint. All in all, I did enjoy using this paint, and will certainly use it again in the future!
