Flaky Deli Slices Recipe from Pillsbury
This past month has been bewildering for me. It's gone by so fast, and I feel like I've accomplished so little! But I've enjoyed a lot of it, so I should satisfy myself with that. I do have one teensy regret though; that I couldn't celebrate Grilled Cheese Month the way it deserves to be celebrated! My original plan to was make one new grilled cheese sandwich every week (which would've been easy enough, because the Lord knows about my undying love for grilled cheese!). But somehow, something always seemed to derail me.
Peanut Butter, Banana and Honey Sandwiches Ever since I came across the peanut butter, banana and honey combo I have been enjoying it in many different ways. The simplest, perhaps, is as a sandwich. All you really need is a slice of bread (or two) slathered with some stick to the roof of your mouth good peanut butter, piled high with bananas all dripping with sweet, sticky honey. I have used this combo as open faced sandwiches, regular sandwiches and I even tried buttering the bread and grilling it. The grilled peanut butter, banana and honey sandwich was particularly good with the peanut butter melting a bit and dripping all over. The messier the better!
April is National Grilled Cheese Sandwich month and that was all the excuse that I needed to try out some new grilled cheese sandwich recipes! Not too long ago, while I was devouring a batch of the ever so addictive jalapeno popper dip, I was thinking about other ways to enjoy that amazing flavour combination and the idea that stuck was the one for a jalapeno popper grilled cheese sandwich. As soon as I had that thought I knew that I would have to try it and this was the perfect time! The basic idea was to incorporate the flavours and textures of jalapeno poppers in a grilled cheese sandwich and the first step was the jalapeno peppers themselves. I really could not see biting into a perfectly grilled sandwich with all of the melted gooey cheese and hitting hard raw jalapeno peppers and although pickled jalapeno peppers would likely have done the trick I decided to take the extra step and I roasted the peppers first.
