Deep Dish Cookie Pies

, there's a decadent little slice (or big slice) of heaven called Lou Malnati's Pizzeria. Now of course, with a NYC representative of the baking crew, we're lovers of any and all New York pizzas. It's the water, it's the ovens, it's the tradition yada yada yada. Cupcakes, it's cheese and bread. That's why it tastes so good. But as loyal as we are to NY style slices, we'd leave them all behind for some Chicago style deep dish pizza from Lou's. We know! And ok, yes, there's one more little thing that gives Lou's a leg up. The chocolate chip pizza. With ice cream. And a cherry on top. Gooey, warm chocolate chip cookie dough covered with ice cream is surprisingly, exactly what you want to eat after consuming 4 pounds of mozzarella cheese and a healthy dose of tomato sauce. Ok, well maybe that's just us. You know, just in case. Deep Dish Cookie PiesMakes 6 servings Print Recipe Preheat oven to 375 F.

{flavor stories} sweet apple triangles. Happy January!

{flavor stories} sweet apple triangles

When I was a kid, I remember as a treat we'd sometimes go to the neighborhood bakery for apple turnovers. They were little rectangles of pillowy puff pastry filled with apple pie filling and topped with coarse sugar. I loved them so much, so today we're making a simple take on those. They're made with crisp phyllo pastry {found in your grocer's freezer section}, apple sauce, and vanilla. I think they're some of the easiest {and prettiest!} You'll need:18 sheets frozen phyllo pastry, thawed1/2 a vanilla pod 1/2 cup apple sauce {store-bought or homemade}3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted {approximately}1/3 cup granulated sugar {approximately} Here's how:1. And if I may, I think these are best served warm from the oven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Shot Glasses

I’m currently suffering from mild depression since school started up again yesterday, but I’m very thankful to have had such a relaxing break. Puerto Rico was a blast, Christmas was great with my family, and Ryan and I celebrated NYE in NYC with some of our closest friends. I read good books, watched plenty of trashy TV (new addiction: American Pickers, anyone else?) , and of course did some baking. But this post isn’t a true baked good, there’s not even a real recipe to go along with it — just a great party idea if you love the combination of chocolate, strawberries, and alcohol as much as I do.

My friend Marissa and I dreamt these up (the creative mindpower behind epic desserts such as our Giant S’mores Cake) as a fun snack/drink to serve at her New Year’s Eve party. I know I said there’s not real recipe, but here are some tips for making your own Chocolate Covered Strawberry Shot Glasses: Strawberry Cheesecake. I love these little "Bite Size" Strawberry Cheesecakes!
