Sebastião Salgado (born February 8, 1944) is a Brazilian social documentary photographer and photojournalist. Biography[edit] He has traveled in over 100 countries for his photographic projects. Salgado has been awarded numerous major photographic prizes in recognition of his accomplishments. Salgado works on long term, self-assigned projects many of which have been published as books: The Other Americas, Sahel, Workers, Migrations and Genesis. Between 2004 and 2011, Salgado worked on "Genesis," aiming at the presentation of the unblemished faces of nature and humanity. In September and October 2007, Salgado displayed his photographs of coffee workers from India, Guatemala, Ethiopia and Brazil at the Brazilian Embassy in London.

Resolvi trazer para o meu blog, um dos artigos que escrevi no começo do ano passado (2007) e que está distribuído em vários sites fotográficos, além de grupos do flickr (se bobear deve estar em uns blogs também).Considero-o bastante interessante, por reunir em um só lugar todo o conteúdo sobre o assunto, que fui juntando aqui e ali em minhas andanças pela internet. If you've ever wondered why your otherwise awesome camera sometimes produces off-color pictures, the answer can probably be found inside your white balance settings. White balance usually needs to be adjusted every time there's a change of scene, or else those strange tones can creep into your photos. That's a pain in the neck, which is why most cameras ship with a bevy of white balance presets, and why most of them default to "auto white balance" (often listed as AWB in menus).
The presets work most of the time. But if your camera is making the same mistake in certain situations, you may have turn off the auto-white balance setting and pick something on your own. Figuring out how to change your white balance will require a look at your camera's manual, but fortunately, once you've found the menu item, adjusting white balance to suit the scene in front of you isn't difficult.
