This is a big opportunity for Google. The American company founded in 2010 by two former Apple employees, Matt Rogers and Tony Fadell (one of the fathers that gave birth to iPod), confirms in Forbes that it has already sold about 1 million of thermostats. After acquiring Motorola Mobility (12,5 billion dollars) and DoubleClick, we might ask the question: what is hided behind Google’s acquisition strategy?

For this reason, a team at MIT have built The Reference Energy Disaggregation Data Set (REDD). A few weeks ago, an initial (v1.0) snapshot of this data set was released for use in academic work.
