The poroposal includes a one-hour film, an exhibition, book and website. Michael Coulson is collaborating with author/artist Charlotte Cory on this new venture. It is a strange fact of history that at the same time (in exactly the same year, 1859) that Charles Darwin published his On the Origin of Species, the craze for photographic portraits as calling cards “Cartomania” took off. It was the birth of the modern obsession with the photograph portrait.
Charlotte Cory’s latest book, "The Visitors", published by Dewi Books 2007 talks about how the first generation of people to be photographed were also the first generation of people to realize that they were closely related to animals.
