Re: The Auditors. Treatises - Investment Adviser Regulation: A Step-by-Step Guide to Compliance and the Law. Congressional Funding for CFTC and SEC Falls Short. By Kyle Colona on December 28, 2010 Kyle Colona, ComplianceX News, December 28, 2010 As the lame duck session of Congress closed, the Democratic controlled body was unable to sign off on the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act for FY 2011 after a series of legislative initiatives were passed ranging from extending the Bush era tax brackets to ratifying the START treaty on nuclear arms with Russia. So Federal lawmakers agreed to fund the government at current levels through March 4, and according to an article run by Bloomberg on December 22, 2010 budget increases to fund the SEC and CFTC were not included in the temporary spending bill which could slow the rule making processes required by the Dodd-Frank Act.

The SEC and CFTC requested $1.25 billion and $261 million, respectively, for staffing, technology and infrastructure and without the funding, new initiatives will be postponed or scrapped, regulators have said.
