This occurrence is one of two in the area known as the Old Silver Mine (the other is Elmtree 13-URN 0901). Abraham Gesner in 1842 was favourably impressed with the mineral prospects of this locality (McMullen, W.E., 1936-972). The presence of this occurrence was also reported by Bailey when he found a little copper pyrite, and a few small bits of lead (Bailey, R., 1864-966) at this location. In 1880, Ells noted that "...at the Forks of this stream, (Nigadoo) about eight miles from its mouth, a deposit of considerable extent occurs...
