If you want to add more space to this virtual disk, you must add in a number of disks equal to or greater than the number of columns. So in our example, I'd need to add in 3 more disks before I could extend the size of my virtual disk. This is because we do not change the stripe, we simply add space to each column....and to do that correctly, we need to have an additional disk at the bottom of each column.This gets more complicated with mirror sets.
