make a tiny meditation matchbox

One recent morning, my son spent time making tiny scrolls and putting them in empty match boxes. Everyone was so charmed, we could not stop talking about all the things we could do with the concept. We thought about birthday invitations, poetry boxes, wish boxes, and treasure hunt directions. We thought it would be fun to mail them, leave them on our friends' porches, or in random public places (that one I want to do soon!). We also spent the morning making beeswax bottle cap candles. The candle idea was inspired by craftaholics anonymous. Mandala Coloring Pages. Mind Jar. Today we tried a different way of making a Mind Jar.

Mind Jar

(Here is a free MindJar printable for you so you can share a MindJar with someone who might like or need one! For another great idea try making a Calm-Down-Basket!) (A Mind Jar is a meditation tool to use whenever a child feels stressed, overwhelmed or upset. Imagine the glitter as your thoughts. When you shake the jar, imagine your head full of whirling thoughts, then watch them slowly settle while you calm down. I think we might be making some of these for our friends, too.

A few lovely people in the comments have suggested using a peanut butter jar as they are made of plastic, this is a great idea if your little ones drop (or throw) things! Wishing you a beautiful day ps// We first discovered the Mind Jar via Angie’s blog and the original idea came from Kerry Lee MacLean. Make a Miniature Zen Garden. We are always looking for ways to make our home a place of calmness and peacefulness.

What works well for us is using the Calm Down Basket . Emily’s favourite is the Rice Box, she loves to find little glass gems and move the rice around with the bamboo stick. A slightly more grown-up version of that Rice Box is a Tabletop Zen Garden. You can buy these online, but it’s easy to make your own, too. You will need: Playsand or sand from the beach. How to: Pour your sand into the dish and shake the dish gently to make sure your sand looks smooth. Add your stones and decorations. That’s really all you need to do to add a little bit of calm to your home.

Remember that the Zen Garden is never really finished, and it’s really not about getting it to look perfect. Have a beautiful day! Simple Toddler Meditation. Meditation is one of those things that I always wanted to do, but never quite managed.

Simple Toddler Meditation

I even attended months of Kundalini yoga classes, but still couldn't seem to get around to it at home.I've noticed though that both my daughter and her little friend (and me too, to be honest) find it hard to "still" our minds. Being a toddler is, I imagine, really hyper-stimulating, and frustrating. Finding a way to slow down, just for a minute, is something that would surely benefit them in ways I can't even imagine. I knew it would help me.I thought meditation could be the answer and I couldn't see any reason why we couldn't try to meditate together. After all, children will "do as you do", so whatever you want them to do, you'd better be doing it yourself. The only thing for it was to institute a family meditation practise I looked around the internet for some toddler friendly meditation practises. It is a simple technique for encouraging long and deep breaths.
