New media ventures blossom in Seattle

http://www.seattlepi.com/local/article/New-media-ventures-blossom-in-Seattle-898829.php News is ever-changing, and the business of covering it is growing -- especially in Seattle. On Thursday, seattlepi.com marks a year as an online-only Web site. It emerged as a successor after the Seattle Post-Intelligencer newspaper ceased publication on March 17, 2009. But seattlepi.com is hardly the only new kid in town. More and more online news ventures are finding an audience in Seattle, a city known for tech savvy and an affinity for entrepreneurial innovation. They range from the hyperlocal to the intensely specialized, from the network model to the nonprofit.
Marketers and brands using social networks will soon find their activities in those spaces regulated by the U.K.'s Advertising Standards Authority, following recommendations submitted by the Advertising Association this week. The proposed amendment to the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) Code - expected to be in force by September - will extend the regulatory framework currently in place for paid online ads to all other online marketing communications. http://www.clickz.com/clickz/news/1716400/uk-regulate-social-network-marketing
