Yesterday I did my usual Body Combat workout at Dash Fitness and came home and made one of my favorite post workout snacks-a Green Smoothie. I posted the photo on Instagram , Twitter , and Facebook and got several requests for the recipe. So today I am sharing my favorite Green Smoothie recipe. Some people call the Green Smoothie a Green Monster, but I like to refer to mine as the Green Goblin:)
When my friend Holly Shelowitz posted her favorite healthy green smoothie recipe on Facebook, I wanted to try it immediately. I did…and I loved it. Holly is a holistic nutritionist. We only just met a few months ago, but we have so much in common that it feels like I’ve known her much longer.
If you've been reading this blog for a while, then you know how much I love avocados. And that I put them in everything...even smoothies. I would go so far as to say my love of them borders on addiction, and everyone who knows me would probably agree. Case and point: the other day, I was sitting at my parents' kitchen table and spotted an avo in my mom's fruit basket. During the winter in Oklahoma avocados are hard to come by, so a good one is an absolute treat. And this one looked REALLY good.
I’ve been traveling, what feels like all summer long and all I want right now is vegetables and this smoothie. and … maybe a small bite of something sweet. . . When I’m not traveling, I drink this at least 4-5x a week, either for breakfast, post workout or late afternoon pick me up. I love it. With all the limes and ice cubes, it’s incredibly refreshing and you’d never even know it wasn’t sweetened with fruit. Are you familiar with the pH Miracle ? It’s all about balancing the alkaline levels in the body be, which can be done through diet, supplements and alkaline water – higher pH.
Yesterday when I shared my 2012 foodie goals with you, the one at the top of my list was getting more fresh fruit and leafy greens into my diet. I promised you a killer green smoothie recipe, and here it is! Given my aversion to vegetables, I had been giving the skeptical side-eye to green smoothies for the better part of a year before I finally caved in and tried one.

We've all probably tried a mango lassi at our favorite Indian restaurant, but have you ever tasted a papaya lassi? Full of sweetness and tang, this dreamy drink will cool you off and transport you to the subcontinent. Acha ! (Hindi for 'All right!'). I grew up ordering mango lassis anywhere I could find them.
Papaya Smoothie My current obsession for papaya seeds has left me with tons of papaya fruit with the middles scraped out. Its hot outside and I’ve got tons of fruit.
