The Baby-Killers. News to Note, November 14, 2009. 1. AP: “Vatican Looks to Heavens for Signs of Alien Life” For the Vatican, the question of whether “sentient life forms exist on other worlds” has yet to be answered. In May 2008, we reported on an article titled “Aliens Are My Brother” by Father Gabriel Funes, director of the Vatican Observatory. Funes speculated that there could be many forms of intelligent life throughout the universe, and that some could be “free of original sin.” The Vatican recently concluded a five-day conference on the topic of astrobiology, a field studying the question of life beyond earth.

One attendee, University of Arizona astronomer Chris Impey, claimed we may discover alien life within only a few years. The Vatican also hosted a conference this year on Darwin’s The Origin of Species, which—the AP notes—“snubbed proponents of alternative theories, like creationism and intelligent design, which see a higher being rather than the undirected process of natural selection behind the evolution of species.” 2. 3. Fighting Abortion—The Measure of a Just Society. The abortion debate is far more than a mere political issue. It strikes at the heart of every society. Without the light of God’s Word upholding the sanctity of human life, Western nations lose all respect for the sanctity of the unborn. Having grown up in a Christian home and having accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior at the age of nine, I just assumed that I was pro-life, even though I can’t recall ever hearing a sermon on the topic.

After all, I thought, aren’t all good Christians pro-life? In the summer of 1992, I came face to face with the realization that being pro-life was more than a slogan on a bumper sticker—it was an understanding that what some have relegated to a mere political issue is in fact at the very nexus of a God-honoring, just society. How to Stop Abortion.

The anniversary of Roe v. Wade (22 January 1973) is a troubling reminder that abortion is still legal in America. Sadly, after spending millions of dollars to reverse the court’s decision, the pro-life movement has had little success. In June 2003, Christians rejoiced briefly when the US Congress enacted the first limits on Roe v. Wade: a ban on “partial-birth” abortions. But that law is now tied up in court. What Can the Average Christian Do? While the courts are bent upon protecting the “right” of mothers to kill their babies, they have stepped up their attacks on freedom of religion and religious expression—including the display of the Ten Commandments in public places. The situation seems hopeless. Finding answers to fight abortion has always been a key theme of Answers in Genesis.

Ken laid out the problem—and solution—back in 1987, in his documentary The Genesis Solution. Biblical Perspectives on Unborn Children - Resources. The Bible teaches human beings are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27; James 3:9). Not just Adam and Eve, but each individual since has been personally created by God (Malachi 2:10). Personhood is never measured by age, stage of development, or mental, physical, or social skills (Exodus 4:11). Can we tell the moment of each person’s creation by God? Science offers a clear answer that perfectly complements the teaching of Scripture. Dr. Dr. Professor Micheline Matthews-Roth of Harvard University Medical School argues, “It is scientifically correct to say that an individual human life begins at conception.” California Abortion Laws - FindLaw. Anti-Abortion Georgia Lawmaker Proposes Law That Would Criminalize Miscarriages.

Are lawmakers from the "women are chattel" set having some sort of nation-wide competition to see who can get the most sick-minded anti-abortion law enacted? Sure seems that way! Last week, a public outcry forced South Dakota lawmakers to shelve a bill that opened the possibility that abortion providers would be endangered by people who believed that killing them was a justifiable homicide. Today comes word that Georgia state Representative Bobby Franklin is shopping a bill that wouldn't just make abortion illegal in Georgia, it would criminalize miscarriages to boot.
