Hand Embroidery | Dressed up in Stitches. It’s so hard to believe February will be over tomorrow! I think I say that every month. I’ve been on vacation for a week, and was working furiously to get a project done before I left so I feel like I’ve been MIA from here for nearly half of February. Here are some highlights from the past couple of weeks to end off this wintery month: I made my first Etsy sale to another country! I sent the purchase off to the States, so definitely not too far but it was still pretty exciting. The weekend before I left for my trip there was a huge flea market here in Saskatoon. I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was working on a wholesale order for a new website which is an online extension of a local shop here. A week ago today I headed off to Vancouver B.C. for a vacation with two of my best friends.

I love this Walt Whitman quote we spotted as we strolled along the seawall. We got tons of shopping time in Vancouver (my kind of vacation!) I even found a fabric store in our travels. Blog | Melissa from Checkout Girl and Little Pink House shares her house hoop how-to today. Read her intro, browse through her fantastic shop, and then grab some felt and get to work! From Melissa: This hoop, with its little pink house and garden of wool felt flowers is an excellent way to use up felt scraps if, like me, you have drawers full. (If you don’t have drawers full of scraps, then this project is an excellent way to make some for future use!)

Materials: 7” wooden embroidery hoopLinen fabric to fit hoop with approximately 2 inches overhang all around (I’ve used a creamy-beige linen, but this project looks great with a sky-blue background as well. Cotton works, too.)Felt scraps (I use wool felt or wool-blend felt exclusively in my projects because the look is rich and lustrous and the felt never pills. You can, of course, use whatever felt you have on hand.)Thread and/or embroidery floss (either will do). Tools: Ready? 2. 4. 5. 6. 8. 9. The finished house. The Flowers & Petals: Voila! Craft Source: August 2009. This summery runner is 86 inches long; you can add or subtract leaves, depending on the length of your table. Handmade napkins can coordinate with either linens or tableware. For the Runner:1. Using our leaf template, cut 27 leaves from linen (we used celadon, mint, and lemon).2. Use a 1/2-inch-wide strip of store-bought single-fold bias tape and the one-step binding method to create a border along one side of each leaf, from tip to tip.

There is no need to finish the tape's ends.3. According to Matt...: Love is..... Felt Hearts! I remember it well. It was about a week ago when I logged in to Pinterest. I'm pretty new to the whole concept, and not following so many people yet, but there were some new pins posted by Lucy. One of them immediately stood out. There were so many colorful pictures on my screen, but somehow they all seemed black and white compared to this one. The pin linked to this wonderful tutorial!

It's made by Revlie over at REVolution. I knew it right away... we had to make it! Matt and I went to two different craft stores in town, to buy as many colors of felt that we could get our hands on. The pattern doesn't link to a heart shape, but we found one on the lovely blog of Francine Clouden. Here's a link to the page with the heart on it. We both are not very experienced in sewing, so it was a little fiddly and fidgety to sew these tiny hearts together, but after a couple we got the hang of it.

The craft store also had a great range of wooden sticks, and we ended up going for the 4mm ones. Attic24. Tutorials.
