Dashing Plus Size Vampiress Costume Buy Now Honestly, I wish retailers would use a plus size model when they’re selling plus size clothes! First, you’ll want to blow up some small balloons so you have ones that are about 3-4″ at the widest part (you’ll need one balloon per candy cup, but I would make a few extra in case some break).
If your balloons feel coated in any sort of powder or substance, you can carefully wash and dry them before dipping. Then, melt your dipping chocolate in the microwave at 30-second intervals (or use a double boiler with water in the bottom pot), stirring between each interval, until it’s all melted. If your chocolate feels too thick for dipping, you can stir in a few spoonfuls of shortening and that will thin it out.
You want it to drip off a spoon a little, but not be too thin and runny, so try and aim for a good in between. Once your chocolate is melted, wait until it is just barely warm (too hot will pop the balloon) and line a tray with wax paper. Once you dip your balloon, place it on the wax paper. Fill your cups with candy and you are ready to party!! How cute are those?! An easy way to create vintage inspired specimen art for Halloween!
It should be no surprise that I LOVE Halloween! It's the perfect holiday to get creative and make inexpensive creepy decor. Last year, I decorated the mudroom with a bunch of affordable DIY projects and this year, I already started turning thrift store finds into creepy Halloween decor. Most recently, I found a set of old display frames and knew right away I had to get them. Their texture, shape and color was the perfect combination for creating creepy vintage inspired specimen art. Affiliate links have been used - Thrift store shadow box frames - Creepy critters - Vintage book pages - Elmers glue stick - Hot glue gun & glue - Pencil - Scissors Aren't these old vintage display frames perfect? Luckily, the back of the frames were glued on and easy to remove without causing too much damage.
I decided to use vintage book pages since they were free and pair well with black creepy critters. Looking for fun and scary Outdoor Halloween Decorations to entertain guests, trick or treaters and of course, yourself?
