Behind Band Names. ABBA – Abba is “father” in Hebrew but the band claims that to be unintentional – rather it is an acronym for the first names of the band members: Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Anni-Frid (Frida). AC/DC – 1) It is said that one of the band member saw it on an appliance and thought it had something to do with power.

ALICE IN CHAINS – a funny rumor is that they were named after a lost episode from The Brady Bunch series! AMBOY DUKES – Ted Nugent’s original band – taken from the title of a 1940’s book about street gangs by Irving Shulman. You may have noticed this is my seventh post in the space of six hours. It’s all part of the overhaul of the site that will be taking place soon. With over 1,000 blog posts on Uke Hunt and a bunch more in the other sections, it’s getting impossible for people to find what they’re looking for. So these posts are designed to guide people towards the stuff that they’ll find most useful.
The first set of ‘lessons’ are divided by difficulty with a couple more focusing on styles (fingerpicking – which needs a bit of filling – and blues). If you’ve got a suggestion for a section or something that should be included in a section, let me know in the comments. Your shows are where you get the chance to prove yourself. They are your opportunity to do what you do best. A good gig can also have a ripple effect, securing you a loyal fan base and ensuring good crowds at future shows.
So when you land a gig, the key is to make it count. Hours of practice and rehearsal won’t matter unless you have a decent crowd that can go back and tell their friends how great you are. Whaledrums. Elemental Design Whale Drums Back to : Musical Instruments for Children's Museums Whale drums have become one of my most popular instruments for outdoor and indoor play. The tone is deep, rich and very resonant. Even on cement or turf, you can feel the vibration run up through your body. Most of my Heavy Duty Whales are made from recycled propane tanks of various sizes and condition. Some tanks may be slightly pockmarked scratched or dinged under the paint; this all adds to the texture when finished. For the finish, I can either paint the Whales with one or two tones of Enamel paint; or I can send them out to be powder-coated. Soooo.... Heavy Duty Whale Drums: These are made for moderate to heavy use. Here are some of the various options for the Heavy Duty Whale Drums: 30" Heavy Duty Whale drums: 30" across, and 24" high with 10 pentatonically tuned keys.
