I wanted to have this posted yesterday morning, but I may have stayed up until the wee hours watching the Oscars and live tweeting the Oscars w/ my friends and watching post-Oscars coverage, because... I heart the Oscars. If you watched, who was your pick for best dressed? I'd have to go with Michelle Williams and Viola Davis. And Angie's leg, because let's face facts- it kinda stole the show there for a sec. Moving on. My little man turned 7 on Friday and we had a Batman shindig on Saturday. Gotham City food table y'all. It was a white t-shirt which had been turned into a cape and someone had used a black marker to draw the Batman symbol on the back of the cape. My grandsons were going to have super hero capes to run around in. Yes, and I knew just how to do it. When it comes to book and movie characters, I seem to like the classics. Take Spider-Man for example, I really enjoyed the first Spider-Man movie (the subsequent ones as well) and think Tobey Maguire is well cast, but there is just something about the traditional Marvel Comics Spider-Man in print, that has my loyalty (probably my age ). Stephen was so proud of this invitation and his depiction of the Man of Steel. Pow! Bang! Bam! Get your superhero capes on for this action. What better way to celebrate your little ones birthday than to throw him a superhero party, showing him just how “super” he really is?! I wanted the party to be bold and fun, creating a mini superhero world for all the guests. Among the favorite treats and food were barbell suckers, superhero “pops”, lighting rod yellow peppers with “power” dip, “Super” ropes, corn “pops”, ring “pops”, “pop” rocks, Wonder Woman lassos, skyscraper cookies, lighting rod watermelon,“hero” sandwiches, push “pop” cupcakes, cookie“medals”, telephone booth cookies and more.

After doing some online research, I found that there wasn't much about this party theme so I had to really start from scratch. I purchased this Superhero Collection on Etsy.com from woofyworld. I used the images on everything from the invitations to the Superhero Certification tags and certificates, favor boxes and cupcake toppers. The color scheme for the party was red, blue, yellow and black. For the party we wanted to have a central theme and wanted all the party guests to go through the Superhero Academy to become certified Superheros. For the dessert table, I wanted to stick with the four-colored Superhero theme by making Cake Pops, Chocolate covered marshmallows, strawberries, two flavors of cupcakes (Funfetti and Devil's Food Cake).
