Carnegie Mellon School of Music | Alumni Music

http://music.cmu.edu/musicandtechnology/ Carnegie Mellon is in a unique position to capitalize on its singular excellence in science, technology, and the performing arts to forge an exciting new synthesis of these areas of professional activity. The university’s Music and Technology degree programs were established in 2009. Students in these programs will develop a profound understanding and integration of the realms of music and supporting technologies, primarily from computer science and electrical engineering. Carnegie Mellon is a global research university of more than 10,000 students, 70,000 alumni, and 4,000 faculty and staff. Recognized for its world-class arts and technology programs, collaboration across disciplines and innovative leadership in education, Carnegie Mellon is consistently a top-ranked university.
PortMedia is the result of discussion among many computer music researchers and developers. After considering many options, the group decided to endorse the work of Phil Burk and Ross Bencina who created the PortAudio library. Supporters and users of PortMedia are listed below. Our goal is to extend the PortAudio foundation to support MIDI, sound files, and perhaps other basic music software interfaces. You can help!

Serpent

Serpent is the scripting language for Aura, a platform for computer music, animation, and interactive systems. Serpent was designed and implemented as a stand-alone, general purpose interpreter. Serpent is perhaps ideal as a game scripting language due to its real-time design and support for external C++ objects and C functions.
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ Audacity is available for Windows®, Mac®, GNU/Linux®, and other operating systems. Learn more about Audacity... Also check our Wiki and Forum for more information. The current release of Audacity is 2.0.0 .

pierre couprie : logiciels

by Miller S. Puckette — last modified 2012-03-12 11:58 AM Pd (aka Pure Data) is a real-time graphical programming environment for audio, video, and graphical processing. It is the third major branch of the family of patcher programming languages known as Max (Max/FTS, ISPW Max, Max/MSP, jMax , etc.) originally developed by Miller Puckette and company at IRCAM.

h.f.p. | Christopher Ariza | Computer Music

Computer music includes open-source and/or free software for algorithmic composition, interactive composition, and utilities for music production and analysis. The athenaCL system is an open-source, object-oriented composition tool written in Python. The system can be scripted and embedded, and includes integrated instrument libraries, post-tonal and microtonal pitch modeling tools, multiple-format graphical outputs, and musical output in Csound, SuperCollider, Pure Data, MIDI, audio file, XML, and text formats. envl.net provides a collection of free, online, web-based tools for music composition, generation, and sound design. Rather than employing the representations of Western notated music, these tools provide generative mechanisms and alternative representations to specify and create musical structures. Post-Ut is a free, web-based, on-line sonic measure ear training system. http://www.flexatone.net/computer.html

Noise Occupation is Alec Hall, electric violin & electronics, and Aaron Einbond, electronics. Both with backgrounds as score-based composers, we have come together to develop new contexts for quotidian noise and field recordings in an improvised setting and to develop generative strategies for real-time musical structures. With influences ranging from Berlin’s Echtzeitmusik scene (Andrea Neumann), to environmental sound (Francisco Lopéz), to sound installation (Peter Ablinger), we hope to create a dialogue between real-time experimentation and its feedback (literal and figurative), bringing insight to new score-based works, as well as developing new models of audience-performer-environment interaction. Heather Frasch is a composer of acoustic and electroacoustic music. Also, she performs frequently as an improviser and experimental flutist, and creates sound installations.

CCARH Homepage

Founded in 1984, the Center for Computer Assisted Research in the Humanities is engaged in the development of large databases of musical and textual materials for applications in research, teaching, and performance.
The purpose of MuseData code is to represent the logical content of musical scores in a software-neutral fashion. The code is currently being used in the construction of full-text databases of music for several composers, including J. S. Bach, Beethoven, Corelli, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Telemann, and Vivaldi. It is intended that these full-text databases be used for music printing, music analysis, and production of electronic sound files.
