Santa Cruz Chapter CNPS. EarthShare California. About CalFlora. What is Calflora? Calflora is 1. a website you can use to learn about plants that grow wild in California (both native plants and weeds); and 2. a nonprofit organization responsible for the website. Calflora is run by two paid staff members and a few volunteers. Information in Calflora comes from many sources: public agencies, non-profits, scientists, private donors, and you! Find Out About a Plant You can enter the common or scientific name of a plant to find out about it.

You can even use our new name wizard to just enter part of a name and have the wizard make suggestions. Find Out What Plants Grow in a Place You can also enter a place and get an illustrated list of the plants that grow there. Learn More about Calflora There's a lot more to Calflora than these basic tools -- you can learn about Calflora's more advanced features at the top of this page, where you will find links to the many kinds of more advanced questions you can ask about California plants. The mission of the Growing Natives Program is to promote, support and encourage the appropriate use of California Native plants in public and private gardens and landscapes. One of the goals of the Growing Natives program is to provide technical information and resources to homeowners, landscape designers, and nursery owners on the care and maintenance of native plants so that natives are routinely incorporated into public and private landscape designs.

Within this program section of our website, we strive to be an active resource for individuals, companies and organizations about how to plan, start, and maintain native plant gardens and landscapes that are ecologically beneficial and personally enjoyable . We hope you take the time to cruise though the various menus, articles and information found on our site, and contact your local chapter if you have questions about topics not covered in the materials you find here.
