Daft Punk is an electronic music duo consisting of French musicians Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo (born 8 February 1974) and Thomas Bangalter (born 3 January 1975). [ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ] [ 4 ] Daft Punk reached significant popularity in the late 1990s house movement in France and met with continued success in the years following, combining elements of house with synthpop . [ 2 ] [ 3 ] [ 5 ] The duo is credited with producing songs that are considered essential in the French house scene. It was managed from 1996 to 2008 by Pedro Winter (Busy P), the head of Ed Banger Records . [ 6 ] Early in the group's career, the band members were strongly influenced by groups such as The Beach Boys and The Rolling Stones . [ 7 ] Bangalter and de Homem-Christo were originally in a band called Darlin' , which disbanded after a short period of time, leaving the two to experiment musically on their own.
Cut Copy are an Australian electronic band formed in 2001 by Dan Whitford on vocals, keyboard and guitar. Other members are Tim Hoey on guitar and sampler, Ben Browning on bass guitar and Mitchell Scott on drums. Their second album, In Ghost Colours peaked at number-one on the ARIA Albums Chart in 2008.
WhoMadeWho (or Who Made Who ) formed in 2003, with falsetto voiced bassist Tomas Hoffding coming from the Scandinavian rock underground, singer songwriter/guitarist Jeppe Kjellberg from the avantgarde jazz scene, and drummer Tomas Barfod – who also records as Tomboy and is part of Filur with Kasper Bjørke . New Young Pony Club are an English electronic music band from London , formed in 2004. The band consists of members from London, Hereford , Cambridge and Bromley . Their influences are prominently from post-punk and New Wave . [ 1 ] New Young Pony Club are influenced by many different bands and acts, and try not to risk becoming too close to the sound of any one other band. [ 2 ] Their own take on their music is "We marry the dance ethic with the pop ethic, and make something that you can dance to and sing along to". [ 3 ]
Goldfrapp is an English electronic music duo from London , formed in 1999. [ 1 ] The duo consists of Alison Goldfrapp (vocals, synthesizer ) and Will Gregory (synthesizer). Despite favourable reviews and a short-listing for the Mercury Prize , [ 2 ] [ 3 ] the ambient sound of their 2000 debut studio album Felt Mountain did not chart highly. [ 4 ] Goldfrapp's second album Black Cherry , which incorporated glam rock and synthpop sounds into their music, was released in 2003. [ 5 ] The album influenced the same dance-oriented sound of their third album Supernature . [ 2 ] Supernature took Goldfrapp's work further into dance music , and enjoyed international chart success. [ 4 ] [ 6 ] The album produced three number-one US dance singles, [ 6 ] and was nominated for Best Electronic/Dance Album at the 49th Grammy Awards . [ 7 ]
DFA Records is an independent record label and production team, launched in September 2001 by Mo' Wax co-founder Tim Goldsworthy , musician James Murphy , [ 1 ] and manager Jonathan Galkin . [ 2 ] The label has an exclusive distribution deal with major record label EMI . [ 3 ] [ edit ] History James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy met while working in New York on the David Holmes album Let's Get Killed . [ 4 ] After the recording was completed, Goldsworthy stayed in New York, and the two began to throw parties in the Lower East Side .

[ edit ] Biography Crécy was born in Lyon, but moved to Versailles from Marseille in the mid 1980s, attending the same Jules Ferry college as Air and Alex Gopher , with whom he later created the Solid label. He then worked in Paris as a sound engineer at studio +XXX ("plus thirty") where he met Philippe Zdar of Cassius , with whom he worked on the Motorbass album, [ 1 ] a preview of what would be his second album: Super Discount , released in 1996, with Air, Alex Gopher and other French artists on Solid. Étienne de Crécy has been involved in various music projects where he worked as a producer.
" Face to Face " is a song by the French electronic music duo Daft Punk , featuring vocals and co-production by Todd Edwards . It was released as a promotional single from the 2001 album Discovery as a 12" single for those who pre-ordered the 2003 remix album Daft Club . The Presets are an Australian electronic music duo formed in 2003, consisting of Julian Hamilton on vocals and keyboards and Kim Moyes on drums and keyboards. The duo released their debut album, Beams , in 2005 and received a positive critical response. [ 1 ] The 2008 release, Apocalypso , debuted at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart . At the ARIA Music Awards of 2008 , the pair won "Best Dance Release" and "Best Group", and became the first electronic act to win "Album of the Year". [ 2 ] In 2009, The Presets' Hamilton and Moyes won an APRA Award for "Songwriters of the Year" [ 3 ] and an ARIA Award for "Best Dance Release" for " Talk Like That ". MSTRKRFT (pronounced "Master-craft") is a Canadian electronic music duo from Toronto . The group was started in 2005 by Jesse F. Keeler of Death from Above 1979 and Al-P (Alex Puodziukas) formerly of the Mississauga , Ontario [ 1 ] electropop group Girlsareshort . [ 2 ] [ 3 ] [ 4 ] Al-P was also the producer for Death from Above 1979's album You're a Woman, I'm a Machine as well as several of (Jesse's former band) Black Cat #13's records. The duo have been close friends, as well as work partners, for a long time. [ 5 ] MSTRKRFT also produced Die Mannequin's first EP, How to Kill , and Magneta Lane's second LP, Dancing With Daggers . B.W.H. was a two-song Italo Disco project involving roughly the same personnel as Blackway and Mr. Master . Originally credited as producers were the undefined Magic Records Productions and the House Of Music label operators Stefano Zito and Carlo Favilli . Mixing was credited to Zito along with Stefano Galante as S. Galanne.
Alex Gimeno is a DJ best known for Ursula 1000 , a wide-ranging musical project including lounge , breakbeat , glam and cha cha . Gimeno was born in Brooklyn, New York. During his childhood, he and his family moved to Miami Beach where his father had an extended residency. He moved back to Brooklyn in the late 1990s.
The Faint is an American indie rock band. Formed in Omaha, Nebraska , the band consists of Todd Fink , Jacob Thiele , Dapose, Joel Petersen and Clark Baechle . The Faint was originally known as Norman Bailer and included Conor Oberst (of Bright Eyes , with whom the Faint toured in 2005). Tiga James Sontag (born 1974 in Montreal, Canada) is a Canadian musician, DJ and record producer of electronic dance music. Tiga ( pron.: / ˈ t iː ɡ ə / ) has released two albums entitled Sexor and Ciao! Sexor won the 2007 Juno Award for Dance Recording of the Year. Tiga released a selection of compilations in the early 2000s, featuring mixes such as American Gigolo , DJ-Kicks: Tiga and, Mixed Emotions , which put him on the map as one of "the world's best mixers" [ 1 ] .
