The band was formed by Andy Spence and Tahita Bulmer in 2004. Their influences are predominantly post-punk and new wave artists.[7] Career[edit] Forming and signing[edit] Mutual friends introduced now London-based vocalist Tahita Bulmer and producer Andy Spence, who shared a love of punk rock and dance music.
The founding pair began writing together, originally only for Bulmer to perform. Keeler of Death from Above 1979 and Al-P (Alex Puodziukas) formerly of the Mississauga, Ontario[1] electropop group Girlsareshort.[2][3][4] Al-P was also the producer for Death from Above 1979's album You're a Woman, I'm a Machine as well as several of (Jesse's former band) Black Cat #13's records. The duo have been close friends, as well as work partners, for a long time.[5] MSTRKRFT also produced Die Mannequin's first EP, How to Kill, and Magneta Lane's second LP, Dancing With Daggers.[6] History[edit] MSTRKRFT released their first LP, The Looks, on July 18, 2006 in the United States and February 2, 2007 in Britain.

During his childhood, he and his family moved to Miami Beach where his father had an extended residency. He moved back to Brooklyn in the late 1990s. Influences[edit] In his youth, Gimeno was exposed to 50s and 60s exotica, world music, bossa nova and mambo his parents listened to which deeply influenced him. His own personal tastes were deep in new wave, post-punk, glam rock, hip hop and acid house.
Career[edit] Gimeno entered the music business around 1990. After extensive work as a DJ, he sent a demo of original work to Washington, D.C. He has done remixes for the likes of Quincy Jones, Felix Da Housecat, The Faint, Fort Knox Five to a slew of television remodels for themes to Sesame Street, The Powerpuff Girls, The Incredibles, and Yo Gabba Gabba. His collaborations with Dr. In 2013, he started his own label called Insect Queen Music, releasing side projects like the space disco influenced Quentin Quatro.
