[ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ] Daft Punk reached significant popularity in the late 1990s house movement in France and met with continued success in the years following, combining elements of house with synthpop . [ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 4 ] The duo is also credited with producing songs that are considered essential in the French house scene. They were managed from 1996 to 2008 by Pedro Winter (Busy P), the head of Ed Banger Records . [ 5 ] Early in the group's career, the band members were strongly influenced by groups such as The Beach Boys and The Rolling Stones . Bangalter and de Homem-Christo were originally in a band called Darlin' , which disbanded after a short period of time, leaving the two to experiment musically on their own.

Cut Copy are an Australian electronic band formed in 2001 by Dan Whitford on vocals, keyboard and guitar. Other members are Tim Hoey on guitar and sampler, Ben Browning on bass guitar and Mitchell Scott on drums. Their second album, In Ghost Colours peaked at number-one on the ARIA Albums Chart in 2008.
WhoMadeWho (or Who Made Who ) formed in 2003, with falsetto voiced bassist Tomas Hoffding coming from the Scandinavian rock underground, singer songwriter/guitarist Jeppe Kjellberg from the avantgarde jazz scene, and drummer Tomas Barford – who also records as Tomboy and is part of Filur with Kasper Bjørke . [ edit ] Career The band released several 12-inches on German disco label Gomma Records including Out the Door and Space to Rent , culminating in their self-titled debut album WhoMadeWho in 2005. In 2009 they released their second album The Plot .

New Young Pony Club are an English electronic band from London , consisting of members from London, Hereford , Cambridge and Bromley . Their influences are prominently from post-punk and New Wave . [ 1 ] New Young Pony Club are influenced by many different bands and acts, and try not to risk becoming too close to the sound of any one other band. [ 2 ] Their own take on their music is "We marry the dance ethic with the pop ethic, and make something that you can dance to and sing along to". [ 3 ] Mutual friends introduced now London-based vocalist Tahita Bulmer and producer Andy Spence, who shared a love of punk rock and dance music.
Goldfrapp are an English electronic music duo, formed in 1999 in London , England, UK, consisting of Alison Goldfrapp ( vocals / synthesizer ) and Will Gregory (synthesizer). Despite favourable reviews and a short-listing for the Mercury Prize , the ambient sound of their 2000 debut album Felt Mountain did not chart highly.
