A Guide to Lazy Thanksgiving Table Decorations - makeanddogirl.com. I love a well-decorated table. But let’s be honest. I don’t live in a Pottery Barn catalog. To me, a “charger” is something that keeps my iPhone from dying, not something to put my plates on. And it takes every molecule of my focus to pull off a Thanksgiving spread that’s not too hot (burned) or too cold (going to give someone E Coli).

With those standards in mind, I set about collecting super simple Thanksgiving decor ideas for this year’s table inspiration. Find a branch. Collect the houseplants that usually decorate your windowsills and give them a seat at the table this year. Borrow a page from the Native Americans and use all the parts of the buffalo turkey. When in doubt, paint something white. This isn’t exactly a table decor idea specifically, but I sure love the idea of making some leafy table flair. Giant knit rugs by mary marie knits | Fresh Home Blog. I am not a knitter. I have tried many times, but the only fruit of my labor has been a never-ending scarf. (Knitting for me is like skiing. I don’t know how to stop. This results in never-ending scarves and injuries.) So I’m in awe of those who can knit — and, most of all, those who can finish something. That’s why I’m so impressed with these giant knit rugs from Mary Marie Knits on Etsy: They’re made with giant knitting needles and rope, which is stored on a giant spool: Cool, right?

Step 1: Create your background using the Alphabet Frames templates. Pallet reading bed for the nursery. UPDATE: For those following a link directly to this post, you can find pictures of the entire nursery HERE UPDATE: I recently found out the owner of the bed that inspired mine, check out her incredible site HERE When we began planning the nursery I really wanted a spot I could read with our kids and snuggle with them. Since I won’t be working as much, I have great hopes that maybe every once and a while I could cuddle down for a nap with one of them. So in working on the nursery, I began working on a ‘reading bed’ for us. Granted this will be a great bed for naps and for kids, but it is not designed to be an adult bed. I was inspired by this picture and then made it my own. Materials: Wood pallets (ours a bit smaller than the standard size) Palm Sander 80 grit, 200 grit sandpaper 5 large caster wheels 4 hinges Thick foam for the ‘mattress’ – mine is from a fabric store then covered in a down comforter and soft bedding The instructions are a simple as can be: Sand the pallets good and smooth.

Fabric Upholstered Headboard. Guest post {Marie Darby…diy photo lampshades. PINTEREST UPDATE: This is a post from 2010. I do not take custom orders, only the tutorial is available. The lamps have held up wonderfully. As many of you requested, Marie is sharing a little tutorial here on how she made her lampshades. When she made them she was not planning on doing a tutorial for this blog, so be sure to thank her for taking the time to write all this out.

Also, for those wondering…Kara will be sharing some tutorials for her book art on her blog soon. Marie is happy to do custom orders for those that prefer buying over making! * LAMPSHADE – Hobby Lobby carries self-adhesive shades & nightlights, Target has some smaller lamps for $19 that would be perfect for this project, I’ve found some lamps & shades on Craigslist. . * GLUE – I used a hot glue gun for the first lamp. . * VELLUM – I buy this in packs of 20 (I think) in the scrapbooking section of Hobby Lobby.

. * PRINTER – I have a color inkjet printer. If you are using photos – there are several options. That’s it!
