AssembliShop. Making Pompoms in Bulk. I’m always looking for ways to save time. I am currently working on a feature for Discovery Girls magazine that absolutely needed some pompoms–a lot of them. The thought of doing each one individually nearly took me under. The process to make them in bulk is quite easy and definitely beats making those little cardboard templates, which drive me nuts. 14 at a time? Add some neon thread to your final pile of poms and you’ve got a fun garland to hang anywhere– great party fare or tween room dec. Here is the tutorial for making pompoms in bulk. Materials ::A bench or table.

::Yarn ( I used around 200 yards for the small pom poms, and it was about right. ::Embroidery thread ::Scissors Tie one end of your yarn around one of the legs of your bench. Start wrapping around the two legs. Wrap a ton of yarn. When you have enough yarn, tie the end of the yarn to the leg of your bench. Now, you want to secure the center of your pompoms. It will look like this after you tie them all off. Hanging Diamond Decor. Project, photos, and tutorial contributed by Kathleen of Snowdrop & Co. Now that June is upon us, it’s beginning to really feel like summer. These hanging diamond ornaments are a great way to offset that summer heat – don’t they remind you of ice cubes floating mid-air? Plus, with all the diamond-shaped products out there these days wouldn’t it be a blast to throw an icy cool diamond party this summer?

I hope you won’t forget to send Sugar & Cloth an invitation! These DIY metallic diamonds are fun to hang as an overhead table centrepiece or for photo backdrops, but you could easily leave off the string for modern tabletop décor. Cardboard, kraft paper or scrapbook paper Instructions Cut sponge into wedge shape With a serrated knife, using a sawing motion, cut a sponge into two, cake wedge shapes. Cut a center groove into sponge Using an X-Acto or utility knife, cut a section of foam from the center of the sponge.

Paint the sponge wedges in desired color. Trace the slice of cake When the sponge wedges are dry, trace around them on a piece of cardboard, kraft paper or colorful scrapbook paper. Spray glue the postcards to the solid, flat sides of the sponge wedges. Using a caulking gun and your desired caulk, fill a plastic disposable piping bag with half of the caulk.
