Google Maps has released an infographic that details how those in the U.S. and across the Northern Hemisphere traveled from May to September 2012. National parks occupied the top six spots on the list — with the Grand Canyon surprisingly coming it only at no. 6 — followed by the Empire State Building (no. 7), Myrtle Beach (no. 8), Niagara Falls (no. 9) and Times Square (no. 10) SEE ALSO: 12 Mysterious Google Maps Sightings Overall, North Americans had their sights set on the best local beaches, while those in Spain, Italy and France searched for community swimming pools. In the U.K., indoor activities such as squash, bars and going to the gym were most searched on Google Maps.
