Né de l'esprit de l'artiste Jepoy, ce projet qui entre dans le cadre de l'Art en partage, a demandé 3 mois de préparation. L'objectif était de reconstituer le quartier dans le détail (rues, immeubles, trottoirs, arbres...) et de le rendre comestible. Noix de coco coloré pour les espaces verts, "benco" pour les trottoirs, cake et autres gâteaux pour les immeubles... "Parce que l'alimentation est autre chose qu'un besoin. De longues heures ont été nécessaires pour constituer la maquette de 16m2 qui fut ensuite ingurgitée dans un esprit quasi rabelaisien. Hand From Above encourages us to question our normal routine when we often find ourselves rushing from one destination to another. Inspired by Land of the Giants and Goliath, we are reminded of mythical stories by mischievously unleashing a giant hand from the BBC Big Screen. Passers by will be playfully transformed. What if humans weren’t on top of the food chain? Unsuspecting pedestrians will be tickled, stretched, flicked or removed entirely in real-time by a giant deity. "The BBC Big Screen is fitted with a CCTV camera, linked into a computer that runs the software then outputs to the screen," explains O'Shea. "The software picks a person based on their proportions and how apart they are from other people, then tracks the blob over time using optical flow.
