If schools and teachers are to be effective in integrating ICT into the learning environment, then having the necessary infrastructure or plan to acquire and maintain the infrastructure is the crucial first step.

A closer examination of provincial and territorial data revealed that all schools in the Yukon reported having a technology plan for ICT acquisition, upgrading and replacement. Ministry of Education - ICT in Schools. Introducing ICT in Secondary Schools: A Context for Reflection o. Within the Scottish educational system there have recently been significant moves towards devolution of decision taking and the expressed intention that schools must be more responsive to changing community requirements and expectations.

We focus on two aspects of those organizations considered successful within changing external contexts: their processes for the effective acquisition, generation and flow of novel information; and their internal mechanisms for informed decision taking and complex communal problem solving. We use data from two studies on the introduction of ICT as the vehicle for exploring the characteristics of the professional activities and organizational features within secondary schools that appear to be barriers to the effective operation of devolved management and empowered professionalism. Indicators of Well-being in Canada Well-being Social Indicators Relevance Computers have become important tools in today's society. Access to computers in schools exposes young people to information and communications technologies (ICT) that they can use to expand their knowledge. Computers also give young people skills to face future challenges in the use of rapidly changing technologies in the workplace. The computer access in schools indicator measures the number of 15-year-old students who share a computer, based on the number of grade 10 (or equivalent) students in a school and the number of computers available to them for educational purposes. A lower number of students per computer, or lower student-to-computer ratio, indicates a better level of access. Summary National Picture — In 2009, students in schools across Canada shared computers at a ratio of 1.4 15-year-old students for each computer.
