Lucy Young went to find out how its Plan A sustainability initiative affected the design and build The M&S store currently being finished at the Cheshire Oaks retail park in Ellesmere Port underlines its ambition to be the world’s most sustainable retailer by 2015. It is the company’s third sustainable learning store and part of its Plan A intitiative to operate in the most sustainable fashion possible throughout its business, whether that’s product procurement, food or the stores themselves. It’s essential to point out that the efficiencies so far achieved by M&S resulted in a £70m benefit in the last financial year and that figure is expected to grow.
