Ashoka France was launched in 2005 and elected its first class of Fellows in 2006. Ashoka France has made a major marketing push to promote the concept of social entrepreneurship and to develop a robust citizen base for its program. This entailed extensive press coverage in lead media (Le Monde, Le Figaro, La Croix, L'Entreprise) and a series of 12 conferences featuring a total of 8 Ashoka Fellows with growing attendance from business entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and professionals. Efforts have also focused on the development of partnerships with a range of business and citizen sector organizations, including McKinsey, Hill & Knowlton, Latham and Watkins, Positive Network, ESSEC, and WWF.
