Holy Batman! A Subterranean Mansion! With A Water Slide! A Subterranean Mansion. Let that sink in your mind. Subterranean. Mansion. With a water slide that goes from the master bedroom to a swimming pool with waterfalls. Probably the most daring & innovative house ever built – ‘The Subterranean Mansion’. I’m sold. Is it a bird? No, it's definitely a plane: Nasa unveils extraordinary ideas for the aircraft of 2025. By Daily Mail Reporter Updated: 12:01 GMT, 17 January 2011 They are the sort of striking images that wouldn't look out of place in a scene from a sci-fi movie. However, one of these could soon be the face of modern aviation with the unveiling of a new generation of passenger aircraft.

Nasa has revealed three concept designs for quiet, energy efficient aircraft that potentially could be ready for flight as soon as 2025. Future flight? Three companies - Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and The Boeing Company - came up with the designs and, at the end of last year, all three won a contract from NASA to research, develop and test their concepts in 2011, meaning these futuristic ideas could have the potential to take flight. The designs came about after Nasa revealed it was aiming to develop a line of 'super planes' that are faster, larger, quieter - and burn fuel more efficiently and cleanly than their present counterparts. Metamophing Computer Interfaces Siafu is a PC designed to give people with vision loss or impairment a more intuitive computer experience.

It lays flat like a tablet and allows the user to fully interact with it by way of touch. The surface utilizes a conceptual material called magneclay or magnetized liquid. This material has the ability to morph upward into any shape via a controlled electromagnetic field enabling the device to create a braille surface for reading and even pictures in 3D relief. The technology behind Siafu – Magneclay, is an oil based synthetic agent that possesses limitless morphing capabilities. It has a loose molecular structure but can be infinitely rearranged when acted upon by electrical and magnetic charges. As for why the device is named after an aggressive African ant? Designer: Jonathan Lucas Siafu’s magneclay surface can generate full spread braill layouts, allowing users to enjoy reading digital content in a large book style relief.

Revolutionary Wind Generator. Scaling. Previous index next PDF Michael Fowler, UVa 10/12/06 Galileo begins “Two New Sciences” with the striking observation that if two ships, one large and one small, have identical proportions and are constructed of the same materials, so that one is purely a scaled up version of the other in every respect, nevertheless the larger one will require proportionately more scaffolding and support on launching to prevent its breaking apart under its own weight.

He goes on to point out that similar considerations apply to animals, the larger ones being more vulnerable to stress from their own weight (page 4): Who does not know that a horse falling from a height of three or four cubits will break his bones, while a dog falling from the same height or a cat from a height of eight or ten cubits will suffer no injury? ... and just as smaller animals are proportionately stronger and more robust than the larger, so also smaller plants are able to stand up better than the larger.

He even draws a picture:
