Sust. - A+DS. National Urban Policy. Background In 2010 and 2011 the Australian Government sought feedback on how to make our cities more productive, sustainable and liveable. The discussion paper and accompanying background and research paper received 230 public submissions and survey responses from State, Territory and Local Governments, business and community representatives, urban researchers and members of the public. Nearly 450 stakeholders also participated in consultation workshops across Australia's 18 major cities.
This feedback guided the development of the National Urban Policy which was released in May 2011. Private Renting We encourage a thriving private rented sector, which provides good quality and well-managed accommodation, and in which both landlords and tenants understand their rights and responsibilities. Innovative finance We pursue innovative solutions that can achieve more from government resources. Homelessness Scotland has achieved its historic 2012 homelessness commitment.
