Travel - Seeing Tokyo along the Yamanote Line : Tokyo

This commuter rail loop is one of Tokyo's original train lines -- it has been circling the city centre on raised tracks since 1925, and parts of the line are decades older. It is also the city's most iconic, with a long chain of silver carriages striped an unforgettable lime green. Millions of people ride the Yamanote Line every day. At peak hours, trains run every two minutes. However, the Yamanote Line is more than just a train line; it effectively divides the city in two.

The circuit also takes in some lesser-known areas. Examined up close, Tokyo is dramatically different north to south, east to west and even from station to station. Nippori, in the city's northeast corner, for example, is synonymous with old Tokyo. Due north, Sugamo, nicknamed the 'Harajuku for grannies', is something else entirely. Bern's Steak House > Home. Manarola of Cinque Terre Cliffs over the Mediterranean Monterosso Villages[edit] Understand[edit] As of March 2014, all blue routes were closed which are the coastal walks. Many people still continue to do the closed walking routes, which usually just have a sign saying No Entry, these include walking routes #2 between Montorosso and Vernazza, and Vernazza and Corniglia. All the towns slope down to sea-level except for Corniglia, which is perched on top of a tall cliff. Riomaggiore is the southern-most of the 5 Terre. Manarola is a town filled with boats, at least on the lower part of it. Corniglia: Farther along the Blue Trail there is a stone beach that offers much easier access to the water, and also more people.
