Clear Channel Radio, the largest media company in America, said Monday that it will begin advertising daily deals from SweetJack, the deal platform from Cumulus Media. In return, Clear Channel's iHeartRadio app will stream the 570 radio stations Cumulus owns across 120 markets, giving it a substantial slice of radio on the Web. Clear Channel said that its new licensing arrangement will position it favorably against Pandora, considered to be one of the dominant streaming "radio" stations on the Web. But with more and more stations programming their own content without human intervention, over-the-air radio stations are becoming more like their algorithmically programmed Web counterparts—but with chatty DJs and regular commercial breaks.
