John Terry has used a similar defence to Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt to justify his sending off in last night’s game against Barcelona, by insisting that he did nothing wrong despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
Jeremy Hunt, the Culture Secretary, was fighting to save his political career last night after being accused of leaking inside information to News Corporation while judging its £8 billion bid for control of BSkyB. In a dramatic day at the Leveson inquiry, e-mails disclosed by News Corp revealed that Mr Hunt’s advisers gave regular updates to the company about his thinking. Mr Hunt had a quasi-judicial role in deciding the fate of the bid but the e-mails suggest that he supported it from the start and his office secretly helped the company to overcome opposition.
