This is the first of a series of tutorials on how to create a layer using the Layar developer API. Each tutorial will explain how to implement a specific feature within a layer. The idea is to help developers to get started with developing their own layers faster. In this first tutorial, we explain how to create a simple layer step by step.

Layar est l’une des toutes premières applications de réalité augmentée. Cette application agrège un certain nombre de contenus et vous les présente de façon géolocalisée en sur-impression de votre environnement immédiat. Nous en avions réalisé un test il y a quelques mois .

Sans mentir, Layar n’est pas la premiere application de réalité augmentée. Avant-elle il y a wikitude ou les experimentations d’ ING . C’est pourtant la première application sortie proposant des données provenant d’entreprises partenaires. Le principe est toujours le même, se servir de la caméra pour rajouter en sur-impression des informations localisées (grâce au GPS, à la boussoles et aux accélérometres). Le concept de Layar est donc de rester le plus proche possible d’un « navigateur web ». Il propose donc des POI (Point of Interest) comme si c’étaient des sites web.
